Peru September 2025
FBC Melbourne

As the plane lifted off toward Lima, my heart was a swirl of excitement and questions. What would God do through us? How would He use me? Our team was heading to serve at a three-day conference, and each of us had been given a unique role. Some were teaching, others leading worship, some sharing devotionals, and others caring for children so their parents could focus on the sessions.

Somewhere over the ocean, I realized—we were living out 1 Corinthians 12. We weren’t just individuals traveling to Peru; we were a body of believers, each part necessary, each gift important. The conference could only succeed if we worked together, and it did—because every single person stepped into their calling. I could never have done this alone.

Our days followed a beautiful rhythm. Breakfasts turned into connection points with brothers and sisters from across South America. Worship lifted our hearts in unity, and Scott shared daily devotions that set our minds on Christ. My role was with the little ones, where we laughed, colored, told Bible stories, and crafted simple reminders of God’s love. Even lunch breaks and evening walks to dinner became sacred opportunities—times of listening, learning, and encouraging one another in the faith.

On our final day, ministry turned to adventure. We hiked a pyramid rising right out of the city, made our own chocolate treats, and wandered the Inka Market, soaking in Peru’s culture. Yet even those moments were threaded with God’s kindness, reminders of His creativity and joy.

Departure day was bittersweet. It hurt to say goodbye to the dear friends we had just begun to know—faithful servants scattered across South America. But my heart was full. I had seen how God wove our small acts of service into encouragement for His workers. Love often shows up in the simplest ways—an encouraging word, a craft with a child, a shared meal.

As I look back, I’m reminded: God gives each of us gifts for His glory. The question is—are we using them? Whether here at FBCMel, in Brevard County, across the U.S., or to the ends of the earth, your gifts matter. Step out in faith, and let His light shine through you.
